On October 20, 2019 at approximately 3:35 a.m., officers responded to a report of an injury traffic collision on Ocean Boulevard at the 710 freeway involving a single vehicle, which resulted in the death of a male adult.

When officers arrived on scene, they observed several citizens who stopped to assist. As officers started their investigation, those citizens left the area prior to being interviewed.
Responding officers located a 2019 Infiniti Q50S, being driven by a 35-year-old male resident of New York. Long Beach Fire Department paramedics arrived and rendered aid to both the driver and passenger before transporting both subjects to a local hospital, where they were being treated for their injuries.

The preliminary investigation revealed the Infiniti Q50S was traveling northbound on Shoreline Drive at a high rate of speed when the driver of the vehicle lost control and struck a tree. The impact of the collision caused the vehicle to split in half, and the passenger was ejected from the vehicle.

On Monday, October 21, 2019, Long Beach Police Department Collision Investigation Detail detectives were notified that the passenger of the vehicle had succumbed to his injuries at approximately 12:35 a.m. that morning.

The passenger is only being identified as a male adult, pending notification to next of kin by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.
