On April 30, 2024, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office filed gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated against Julie Haq and issued a warrant for her arrest.
On May 1, 2024, the suspect turned herself in to the Long Beach Courthouse. She has been identified as Julie Haq, a 31-year-old resident of Long Beach.

Collision Investigation detectives are investigating a traffic collision which occurred on Feb. 20, 2024, which resulted in the death of a male adult.
On Feb. 20, 2024, at approximately 11:48 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Anaheim Street and Atlantic Avenue regarding an injury traffic collision between two vehicles.
Upon arrival, officers found a male adult driver trapped inside a 2012 Ford Focus. Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded and determined the driver deceased at the scene.
The preliminary investigation indicates a 2012 Lexus IS250, was traveling northbound on Atlantic Avenue approaching Anaheim Street while a 2012 Ford Focus was traveling eastbound on Anaheim Street approaching Atlantic Avenue. The Lexus broadsided the Ford in the middle of the intersection causing the Ford to lose control. The Ford struck a traffic signal light and an abandoned building on the northeast corner of the intersection. The Lexus lost control and struck a bus bench on the northeast corner of the intersection.
The driver of the Lexus, a 31-year-old resident of Long Beach, remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation, and was transported to a local hospital for their non-life-threatening injuries.
Speed, distracted driving and impaired driving are being investigated as potential factors in this collision.
The Los Angeles County Department of the Medical Examiner responded to the scene, and the deceased driver’s identity is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.
