Collision Investigation detectives are investigating a traffic collision which occurred on Nov. 24, 2023, which resulted in the death of a male adult.

On Nov. 24, 2023 at approximately 3:14 p.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection of Artesia Boulevard and Long Beach Boulevard to assist the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) with a traffic collision that occurred at the end of a vehicle pursuit.

Upon arrival, officers learned that LASD had been in pursuit of a suspect driving a stolen vehicle. The stolen vehicle fled from their deputies and collided into a pickup truck. The male adult suspect who was driving the stolen vehicle was arrested by LASD deputies and transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.

The passenger of the stolen vehicle was transported to a local hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the pickup truck was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. Detectives were notified that the driver of the pickup truck had succumbed to his injuries on Jan. 8, 2024.

The identity of the decedent is being withheld pending the next of kin by the Los Angeles County Department of the Medical Examiner.

The original stolen vehicle incident and subsequent LASD pursuit are being investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
