Collision Investigation detectives are investigating a traffic collision that occurred on Nov. 12, 2023, which resulted in the death of a male adult.

At approximately 10:50 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Alamitos Avenue and Anaheim Street regarding a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.

Upon arrival, officers located an unconscious male adult suffering from serious injuries. Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded and transported the pedestrian to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the pedestrian was standing in the middle of Alamitos Avenue, outside of a crosswalk, when a vehicle traveling northbound struck him. The vehicle did not stop and fled the scene.

The Los Angeles County Department of the Medical Examiner will identify the pedestrian and notify next of kin.
