Collision Investigation detectives are investigating a traffic collision that occurred on Dec. 13, 2023, which resulted in the death of a female adult pedestrian.
On Dec. 13, 2023, at approximately 5:04 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of 7th Street and Pepper Tree Lane regarding an injury traffic collision involving a pedestrian.
Upon arrival, officers located an adult female pedestrian who was lying in the eastbound lanes of 7th Street, west of Pepper Tree Lane. They also located the drivers of two vehicles who stated they collided with the pedestrian. Personnel from the Long Beach Fire Department arrived shortly after and determined the pedestrian was deceased.
The initial investigation revealed the female pedestrian ran northbound across the eastbound lanes of 7th Street, outside of a marked crosswalk, when she was struck by a vehicle in the number two lane. The pedestrian fell into the number one lane where she was struck by another vehicle. After the collision, both drivers pulled to the curb and called 9-1-1.
Both drivers remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. At this time, speed, distracted driving, and impaired driving do not appear to be factors in the collision.
At this time, the identity of the pedestrian is unknown and will be identified by Los Angeles County Department of the Medical Examiner.
