On October 13, 2020 at approximately 3:00 a.m., officers responded to the area of the 710 Freeway and Pico Avenue regarding a possible body, which resulted in the death of a female adult.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the body of a deceased female adult on the 710 Freeway under the 6th Street connector from the southbound 710 Freeway. The extent of injuries and condition of the body indicated the female had been struck by multiple vehicles. Officers on scene did not locate any possible involved vehicles or drivers.
Video surveillance in the area show a person matching the victim’s description walking along the 710 Freeway approximately one hour prior to the 911 call.
The preliminary investigation indicates the victim may have been attempting to cross the northbound 710 Freeway when she was struck by an unknown number of vehicles. It is not known why the victim was in the area or on the freeway at that time of the morning.
At this time, the Los Angeles County Coroner Office has identified the victim as a 30-year-old resident of Long Beach, but her name will not be released until next of kin have been notified.
