On May 20, 2020 at approximately 1:40 a.m., officers from the Long Beach Police Department were dispatched to the area of Woodruff Avenue and Willow Street regarding a person down. Upon arrival officers found a female adult lying in the number two lane of southbound Woodruff Avenue north of Deborah Street. The female pedestrian was determined to be deceased at the scene.

Officer's preliminary investigation revealed that the pedestrian was walking in the southbound lanes of Woodruff Avenue when a vehicle, also traveling southbound, collided with her. The vehicle failed to stop after the collision and fled the scene.

The Los Angeles County Coroner's Office will identify the deceased pedestrian and attempt to notify the next of kin.

Anyone who may have witnessed this collision is asked to contact L.B.P.D Collision Investigation Detective David Lauro at (562) 570-7355.
