On Oct. 11, 2022, at approximately 11:55 p.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection of Studebaker Road and Spring Street regarding an injury traffic collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian, which resulted in the death a male adult.
Upon arrival, officers located a pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle, laying in the northbound lanes of Studebaker Road, north of Spring Street. Officers rendered aid to the pedestrian until the Long Beach Fire Department arrived and determined the pedestrian was deceased at the scene.
The preliminary investigation revealed the pedestrian was laying in the roadway, outside of a marked crosswalk, when he was struck by a 2007 Honda Civic that was being driven by an adult resident of Long Beach. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
At this time, neither speed nor distracted or impaired driving are believed to be contributing factors in the collision.
The pedestrian is only being identified as an adult male, pending next of kin notification by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office.
