Original Release 8/25/21 at 10:30 a.m.:
A fatal traffic collision on Aug. 14, 2021 resulted in the death of a male adult.
At approximately 6:53 p.m., officers were dispatched to the San Gabriel River at Wardlow Road regarding a possible battery, that was later confirmed to be a fatal traffic collision—which resulted in the death of a male adult.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a 2007 Yamaha ATV involved in the collision and a non-responsive male adult rider lying on the ground. The Long Beach Fire Department arrived on scene and despite their life-saving measures, the rider succumbed to his injuries.
The preliminary investigation revealed the rider of the Yamaha ATV was riding southbound in the riverbed at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the ATV. The rider struck the concrete embankment and separated from the ATV.
The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office will identify the decedent and notify the next-of-kin.
