On Saturday, September 26, 2020 at approximately 7:15 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Pacific Coast Highway and Ximeno Avenue regarding an injury traffic collision involving a motorcycle and a vehicle, which resulted in the death of a male adult. Upon arrival, officers located a 2020 Honda motorcycle that had collided with a 2012 Porsche Panamera on Pacific Coast Highway west of Ximeno Avenue.
Long Beach Fire personnel arrived on scene and administered medical aid to the motorcyclist and transported him to a local hospital. On September 30, 2020, detectives from the Collision Investigation Detail were notified the motorcyclist, Derrick Mora, 24-years-old and a resident of the City of Orange, had succumbed to his injuries on September 29, 2020.
The preliminary investigation revealed the 2020 Honda motorcycle was traveling westbound on Pacific Coast Highway when the 2012 Porsche Panamera pulled out from a parking lot in front of the motorcyclist.
Neither distracted or impaired driving were a factor in this collision.
