On November 21, 2020, at 5:30 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Park Avenue and Pacific Coast Highway regarding an injury traffic collision, which resulted in the death of an adult male.
Upon arrival officers found a pedestrian who had been stuck by a vehicle as he crossed the street in an unmarked crosswalk. The Long Beach Fire Department arrived on scene and rendered aid to the pedestrian, who succumbed to his injuries. The identity of the decedent is unknown at this time and the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office is working on identifying him.
The preliminary investigation revealed a 2019 Kia driven by a 66-year-old Long Beach resident was traveling eastbound on Pacific Coast Highway when he struck a pedestrian crossing the roadway in an unmarked crosswalk at the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Park Avenue. The driver remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.
Neither distracted nor impaired driving were a factor in this collision.
