Detectives from the Long Beach Police Department’s Collision Investigation Detail are seeking the public’s help in identifying the driver of a white, four-door sedan, that was involved in a fatal hit-and-run traffic collision on Nov. 21, 2022, which resulted in the death of a man.
Follow-up investigation by Collision Investigation Detectives revealed that the pedestrian was crossing Pacific Coast Highway at Orange Avenue in a marked crosswalk on the west side of the intersection and had the right of way as he crossed the street. While the pedestrian was crossing, a white four-door sedan, traveling northbound on Orange Avenue made a left turn to travel westbound onto Pacific Coast Highway, struck the pedestrian, and fled the scene. Shortly after the pedestrian was struck, a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling westbound on Pacific Coast Highway at Orange Avenue and struck the pedestrian as he lay incapacitated on the ground. The driver of the truck remained on the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
At this time, neither speed nor distracted driving or impairment is believed to be a factor for the driver of the Chevrolet in this collision. The investigation is ongoing.
