On Dec. 18, 2022 at approximately 7:40 p.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Molino Avenue regarding an injury traffic collision between a motorcycle and a vehicle, which resulted in the death of a male adult.
Upon arrival, officers located the driver of a motorcycle, who was being treated by the Long Beach Fire Department for life-threatening injuries. Shortly after, Fire Department personnel transported the driver to a local hospital for his injuries.
The preliminary investigation revealed the driver of the motorcycle was travelling westbound on Pacific Coast Highway at a high rate of speed, while conducting a “wheelie”. The motorcycle driver lost control of the motorcycle and struck a Ford truck that was stopped at a red light for eastbound Pacific Coast Highway. The motorcycle driver became separated from the motorcycle, which resulted in the motorcycle continuing to travel westbound on Pacific Coast Highway where it was hit by a Nissan.
On Jan. 13, 2023, detectives were notified by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office that the driver of the motorcycle had succumbed to his injuries on Dec. 23, 2022.
At this time, the driver is only identified as a 35-year-old resident of Long Beach.
