Collision Investigation detectives are investigating a traffic collision that occurred on Oct. 6, 2023, which resulted in the death of a male adult. 

On Friday, Oct. 6, 2023 at approximately 7:11 p.m., officers from the Long Beach Police Department responded to the area of Orange Avenue and Banner Drive regarding a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.

Upon arrival, officers located a pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle. They provided first aid until the Long Beach Fire Department responded and determined the pedestrian had succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The preliminary investigation revealed the male adult pedestrian was crossing westbound across southbound lanes of Orange Avenue, outside of a marked or unmarked crosswalk, when
he was struck by a vehicle.

The vehicle fled the scene and is believed to still be outstanding.

The pedestrian has been identified as Felix Castro, a 51-year-old resident of Long Beach.
