Collision Investigation detectives are investigating a traffic collision which occurred on April 22, 2024, which resulted in the death of a male adult.

At approximately 6:23 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Atlantic Avenue and 4th Street regarding an injury traffic collision involving a vehicle and pedestrian.

Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded and performed lifesaving measures. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital where they were reported to be in critical condition, however, they succumbed to their injuries on April 24, 2024.

The preliminary investigation revealed a 2002 Lexus SUV was making a left turn on northbound Atlantic Avenue from eastbound 4th Street, when they collided with a pedestrian who was crossing north of the crosswalk.

The driver remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. Speed and distracted driving do not appear to have contributed to this collision.

Detectives were notified of the pedestrians passing on May 1, 2024.
