On September 25, 2019 at approximately 10:35 a.m., officers responded to an injury traffic collision between a tractor trailer and pedestrian near the intersection of Anaheim Street and Santa Fe Avenue, that resulted in the death of a male adult.

Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim with life threatening injuries to his upper torso lying in the roadway and a tractor trailer stopped along the curb line. Long Beach Fire Department Paramedics responded, rendered aid, and transported the victim to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The victim is only being identified as a 55-year-old male resident of Pico Rivera pending notification of next of kin by the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was walking westbound on the south sidewalk of Anaheim Street when, for an unknown reason, he stepped into traffic and was struck by the tractor trailer that was traveling eastbound on Anaheim Street in the number three lane.

The driver of the tractor trailer was licensed, stayed on scene and cooperated with the investigation.

Anyone who may have information regarding this incident is asked to call Long Beach Police Department, Collision Investigation Detective Allen Duncan at (562) 570-7355.
