On January 27, 2018, at approximately 7:50 P.M., Officers from the Long Beach Police Department responded to 8th Street and Euclid Avenue on a report of a vehicle versus vehicle traffic collision.
Upon officers arrival, they found that the collision involved a blue 2006 Toyota Tacoma and a black 2007 Honda Fit.
Officers preliminary investigation found that a 50-year-old male resident of Long Beach was driving the 2006 Toyota Tacoma. The Toyota Tacoma broadsided the 2007 Honda Fit on the driver's side, which was being driven by a 49-year-old female resident of Long Beach. The collision forced both vehicles to slide north to their resting place in the north/south lanes of Euclid.
The female driver was transported to a local hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.
The male driver was arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. He has been identified as Richard Roberts a 53 year-old resident of Long Beach.
