A fatal traffic collision on August 12, 2021 resulted in the death of a woman.
On August 12, 2021, at approximately 8:36 p.m., officers responded to an injury traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in the area of 7th Street and Dawson Avenue, which resulted in the death of a female adult.
Upon arrival, officers observed Long Beach Fire Department personnel already on scene as they performed life-saving measures on a female pedestrian. Fire Department personnel transported the pedestrian to a local hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
The preliminary investigation revealed the pedestrian was walking northbound across 7th Street in the east unmarked crosswalk of Dawson Avenue. The pedestrian was struck by a white Toyota truck that was traveling eastbound on 7th Street.
The driver of the Toyota truck fled the scene eastbound on 7th Street. After the pedestrian was struck by the vehicle, she was lying in the eastbound lanes of 7th Street. A blue sport utility vehicle ran over the pedestrian and fled the scene.
The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office will identify the decedent and notify the next-of-kin.
