Collision Investigation detectives are investigating a traffic collision that occurred on July 28, 2023, which resulted in the death of a male adult. 

A
t approximately 10:11 a.m., officers responded to an injury traffic collision in the area of 6th Street and Santiago Avenue. When officers arrived, they found that a driver had been ejected from his vehicle. Officers rendered aid to the victim until, Long Beach Fire Department responded and transported him to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
 

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2021 Nissan Rogue driven by a 63-year-old resident of Long Beach, was traveling southbound on Santiago Avenue when he traveled on the wrong side of the road and struck a parked vehicle head-on. The driver was ejected from the Nissan and the unoccupied Nissan rolled into the front yard of a neighboring residence. No one else was in the vehicle at the time of the collision or hurt as a result of this collision. 

Speed is believed to be a factor in this collision. It is unknown at this time, if driving under the influence or distracted driving was a factor in this collision. 

The identification of the driver is being withheld pending next of kin notification.
