A fatal traffic collision on Sept. 12, 2021 resulted in the death of a male adult.
At approximately 07:00 a.m., officers responded to the area of 5th Street and Pine Avenue regarding a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic collision.
When officers arrived, they located an unconscious adult male in the roadway. The Long Beach Fire Department responded to the scene and transported the pedestrian to a local hospital where he remained in critical condition.
Through their preliminary investigation, detectives learned that the pedestrian was standing in the roadway on 5th Street. The pedestrian was struck by a 2003 Ford F-250 traveling eastbound from Pine Avenue. The driver of the Ford remained on scene and had a valid California Driver’s License and vehicle insurance.
Speed, alcohol, and distracted driving are not believed to be a factor in the collision.
On Sept. 15, 2021, the Long Beach Police Department was notified that the pedestrian had succumbed to his injuries.
At this time, the pedestrian is only identified as a male adult who was approximately 20-30 years old. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office has been notified and will attempt to locate and contact next of kin.
