Detectives have made two arrests in connection with burglaries from apartment mailboxes that have occurred in the downtown area.
Detectives have been investigating the below incidents, which they have determined follow similar circumstances and have similar suspect descriptions. In these incidents, a USPS key was used to access and steal from mailboxes.

Through an extensive investigation, Burglary detectives identified two suspects – James McMillan and Leonardo Zamora. Over the last week, Burglary detectives, along with Drug Investigation Section detectives, arrested the suspects as noted below.
March 18, 2024 –James McMillan, a 26-year-old resident of Cypress, was arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department in their jurisdiction and transferred to Long Beach. He was booked for burglary. Bail was set at $100,000. Detectives believe suspect McMillan to be responsible for at least three of the incidents noted above.
March 20, 2024 – Long Beach Police Department Detectives located and arrested Leonardo Zamora, a 37-year-old resident of Downey, in the area of Anaheim Street and Cherry Avenue. He was booked for his outstanding burglary arrest warrant. Bail was set at $150,000. Detectives believe suspect Zamora to be responsible for all of the incidents noted above.
This case was presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office for felony filing consideration. Detectives will also coordinate with the United States Postal Service on possible federal charges.
