On Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2022, detectives with the Long Beach Police Department’s Computer Crimes Detail, and the East Division Directed Enforcement Team, arrested Randal Stevens, a 53-year-old resident of Long Beach for one count of possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material.
In July 2021, detectives received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding possible online possession of child sexual abuse material. During their investigation, detectives gathered sufficient information to identify Stevens as the suspect and develop probable cause for an arrest.
Search warrants were subsequently served at Stevens’ residence in 4200 block of East 4th Street, where multiple items of evidence were collected. Stevens was arrested and subsequently booked at the Long Beach City Jail, where he was held on zero-dollar bail. Stevens was formerly employed with the Huntington Beach Union High School District as a contracted Audio and Visual technician.
Detectives are seeking additional victims and encourage anyone with information to contact the Computer Crimes Detail at 562-570-7223.
Any suspected inappropriate contact with a minor or knowledge of child sexual abuse material on the Internet, should be immediately reported to their local law enforcement agency or to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at 800-843-5678, or missingkids.com, who will forward the information to the appropriate law enforcement agency on a nationwide basis.
