On July 8, 2018, at approx. 11:00 p.m., officers responded to the 900 block of Hoffman Avenue regarding reports of a shooting, which resulted in the death of a female adult, and the injuring of a male adult.

When officers arrived, they located two gunshot victims in front of a residence. A female subject had been struck in the upper torso, and a male subject had been struck in the lower torso. Both victims were transported to a local hospital by LBFD paramedics, where the female was later pronounced deceased. The male victim was listed in stable condition.

The deceased victim is only being identified as a 22-year-old female resident of Long Beach, pending notification of next of kin. The second victim is only being identified as a 25-year-old resident of Long Beach.

The incident is being investigated as possibly gang-related, however, a motive has not yet been determined.
