On Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at approximately 2:10 a.m., officers responded to a screaming person call and multiple reports of shots being heard in the area of White Avenue and Butler Street, which resulted in the death of a male adult.

While officers were conducting their preliminary investigation, they learned that a male adult victim, who had sustained gunshot wounds to his upper torso, was transported from the dispatch location to a local hospital by a second male adult victim. The first victim later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The second victim was not injured.

The decedent has been identified as 23-year-old Tyree Latrell Coleman of Long Beach.

The preliminary investigation revealed the victims were in a parked vehicle in the 6200 block of White Avenue when another vehicle approached from the side and the suspect(s) fired into the victims’ vehicle.

The exact motive for the shooting is still under investigation. Detectives are actively working to gather additional information to further the investigation.

There is no suspect description at this time, however a light-colored vehicle was seen leaving the area westbound on Harcourt Avenue from White Avenue.
