UPDATE 9/6/23 at 2:00 p.m.:
Homicide detectives made an arrest regarding the August 15, 2023, murder of an adult male.
Homicide Detectives have identified Justin Jackson, a 40-year-old resident of the city of Los Angeles, for the Aug.15, 2023 murder of Michael Toloai.
On August 18, 2023, Detectives presented their case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office and a $3,000,000 warrant for murder was issued for Jackson.
On Sept. 5, 2023, Special Investigations Detectives located and arrested Jackson near the 11000 block of Hoover Street in the City of Los Angeles. He was booked for murder and is being held on $3,000,000 bail.
While the investigation remains ongoing, Homicide detectives believe that Toloai and Jackson were acquaintances. The motive for the crime is believed to have derived from a dispute.

Original News Release 8/15/23:
Homicide detectives are investigating a murder that occurred on Aug. 15, 2023 in the 3400 block of Andy Street.
At approximately 4:43 a.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim with gunshot wounds to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived and determined the victim deceased at the scene.
The suspect fled the scene prior to officer’s arrival.
Homicide detectives responded to the scene to further the investigation. At this time, there is no suspect information available and the motive is unknown.
The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner will work to identify the victim and notify the next of kin.
