CORRECTION 10/17/21 at 11:15 a.m.: The Homicide detectives investigating this incident are Michael Hubbard and Michael Hutchinson, and has been corrected below. 

On Oct. 16, 2021 at approximately 10:53 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 3300 block of E. 67th Street regarding a shooting that resulted in the death of a male adult.

Upon arrival, officers located a male adult lying on the ground in the courtyard of an apartment building suffering from multiple apparent gunshot wounds to the upper and lower body. There were family members rendering medical aid to the victim until Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived. Long Beach Fire transported the victim to a local hospital where he succumbed to the injuries.

Homicide detectives responded to the scene, and at this time, the motive and circumstances surrounding the murder are unknown. Detectives will continue to investigate the crime by processing evidence and seeking out witnesses.

The victim has been identified as Cesar Hernandez, a 30-year-old resident of Long Beach.
