UPDATE 11/2/2023 AT 4:15 p.m.:

On November 2, 2023, at approximately 4:00 a.m., detectives from the Special Investigations Division with the assistance of the SWAT Team served a search warrant at a residence in the 200 block of W. 14th Street looking for a suspect involved in a murder investigation from June 24, 2020.

Upon serving the search warrant, SWAT officers ordered the suspect out of his residence. The suspect exited his residence by himself and surrendered to SWAT officers who took the suspect into custody without incident. The suspect is identified as Armando Hernandez, a 26-year-old resident of Long Beach. He was booked for one count of murder and is being held on $2,000,000 bail.

During the search of the suspect’s residence detectives recovered several items of evidence.  Detectives will present the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration next week. While the investigation remains ongoing, at this time, homicide detectives believe the motive to be gang related.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to contact Homicide Detectives Oscar Valenzuela or Leticia Gamboa at (562) 570-7244. Anonymous tips may be submitted through "LA Crime Stoppers" by calling 800-222-TIPS (8477), downloading the "P3 Tips" app to your smartphone (available at the Apple app store or Google Play), or by visiting www.lacrimestoppers.org
