UPDATE 7/8/23:
Detectives have made another arrest in connection to the June27, 2023 murder of Isaac Marshell IV.
On July 7, 2023 at approximately 5:30 p.m., West and South Division Directed Enforcement Team (DET) officers were in the area of Anaheim Street and Pacific Avenue when they located a subject matching the description of one of the suspects involved in the murder of Isaac Marshell IV.
Working with Homicide Detectives, DET officers confirmed the suspect’s involvement.He was arrested at the scene and subsequently transported him to Long Beach City jail for booking. The suspect was identified as Carlos Alberto Jimenez Hernandez, a 33-year-old male who stated he was experiencing homelessness in Long Beach, who was booked for one count of murder.Bail was set at $2,000,000.
Detectives will present the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration next week.
Original News Release 6/28/23:
On June 27, 2023, at approximately 7:30 p.m., officers responded to the 1000 block of Long Beach Boulevard regarding a report of a shooting which resulted in the death of a male adult.
Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body. Officers rendered medical aid until being relieved by Long Beach Fire Department personnel. Long Beach Fire Department personnel ultimately determined the victim deceased at the scene.
Homicide Detectives responded to the scene to investigate the incident. The preliminary investigation indicates the victim was outside of a business when he was involved in a physical altercation with two male suspects. The victim left the scene; he later returned to the business in his vehicle and parked out front. While the victim was inside his vehicle, the same two male suspects approached him and assaulted him. During the altercation, one of the suspects shot the victim.
Officers arrived on scene shortly after the shooting and apprehended the shooting suspect near the crime scene. The second suspect fled the scene on foot and remains outstanding.
The suspect who was arrested has been identified as Darrell Brock a 24-year-old resident of the state of Pennsylvania. Brock was transported to the Long Beach City Jail, where he was booked for murder and is being held on $2,000,000 bail. Detectives will present their case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration later this week.
The victim has been identified as Isaac Marshell IV, a 27-year-old resident of the city of Long Beach.
At this time, the motive for the shooting is unknown but is believed to be an unprovoked attack.
