On June 4, 2021, at approximately 6:57 p.m., officers were dispatched to a report of a shooting near West Barclay Street and Long Beach Boulevard West, which resulted in the death of a male adult.
Upon arrival, officers located the victim seated inside a vehicle in the street. The victim was unresponsive with apparent gunshot wounds to the upper torso, and officers immediately began rendering life-saving aid. The Long Beach Fire Department responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Based on the preliminary investigation, detectives believe the victim was inside a vehicle when an unknown number of suspects fired gunshots, striking the victim, and fled the scene prior to officer’s arrival.
At this time, the motive for the shooting is unknown, and there is no suspect information. Homicide detectives are actively working to gather information to further the ongoing investigation.
The victim is only being identified as a male adult in his 40’s pending notification to his next of kin by the Los Angeles County Department of the Medical Examiner-Coroner.
