On Friday, August 2, 2019, at approximately 9:45 p.m., officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call in the 900 block of Via Wanda, which resulted in the death of a male adult.

Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim with gunshot wounds to his upper and lower torso. Officers immediately began performing life-saving measures. The Long Beach Fire Department arrived on scene and transported the victim to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Witnesses described the suspect as a local resident who was last seen fleeing the area in a wheelchair. The victim and the suspect were known to each other.

On the following day, August 3rd, detectives located and arrested the suspect in the 5200 block of Orange Avenue. 58-year-old Paul Booth of Long Beach has been booked for murder and ex-felon in possession of live ammunition. Booth is being held on $2,000,000 bail at the Long Beach City Jail.

The victim has been identified as 23-year-old Jerrimiyah Davis of Long Beach.
