On September 4, 2019, at approximately 11:05 p.m., officers responded to the 400 block of Golden Avenue regarding a report of gunshots heard in the area, which resulted in the death of a male adult.
Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive male adult victim with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso in a nearby alleyway in the 700 block of West Melrose Way. Long Beach Fire personnel responded and transported the victim to a local hospital in critical condition. Due to the severity of the victim's injuries, Homicide Detectives responded and immediately began their investigation.
On September 10th, detectives were notified that the victim, identified as 27-year-old Dylan Baskins of Long Beach, had succumbed to his injuries on September 6th.
There is currently no suspect information and the motive for the shooting is unknown at this time. The shooting is being investigated as gang related and remains ongoing.
