On Aug. 5, 2021, at approximately 11:56 p.m., officers were dispatched to a report of a shooting in the 700 block of East Shoreline Avenue, which later resulted in the death of a male adult.

Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim on the Riviera Point Jetty suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Officers performed life-saving measures until Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived and determined the victim deceased at the scene.

The victim has been identified as a 43-year-old male Long Beach resident experiencing homelessness. His identity is being withheld pending notification to the next of kin.

At this time in the investigation, the circumstances regarding the shooting, motive, and suspect information are not known. The incident remains under investigation by Homicide Detectives.
