On June 7, 2021, at approximately 10:34 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 100 block of West Forhan Street regarding a report of gunshots heard in the area, which resulted in the death of a male adult.
Upon arrival, responding officers located a male adult victim on the sidewalk near the intersection of Long Beach Boulevard and West Forhan Street. The victim was suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to his upper and lower torso. Officers immediately began rendering life-saving aid until Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and determined the victim deceased at the scene.
Homicide detectives responded to conduct a thorough investigation into the shooting. Based on evidence collected during the preliminary investigation, detectives believe the victim was approached by two unknown suspects who confronted the victim at gunpoint. At least one of the two suspects fired multiple shots, striking the victim.
Detectives are actively working to determine a motive for the shooting and to identify the suspects. The two suspects are each only described as possibly male, wearing all dark clothing and masks. They were last seen running westbound on West Forhan Street from Long Beach Boulevard.
An investigator with the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office responded to the scene and will work to identify the victim and notify the next of kin.
