On Feb. 9, 2022, at approximately 10:45 a.m., detectives from the Special Investigation Division located and arrested Armando Train, a 25-year-old resident of Long Beach.

Train was arrested in the area of 10th Street and Martin Luther King Boulevard, after Homicide detectives gathered significant evidence of Train’s involvement in the Jan. 29, 2022 shooting death of 30-year-old Eduardo Alonso. Train was also found in possession of a loaded firearm and illegal narcotics. Detectives are still investigating the motive for the shooting.

Train was booked on one count of murder, one count of carrying a concealed weapon, one count of possession of narcotics, and a parole violation. He was booked at the Long Beach City Jail on $2,000,000 bail. The case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office early next week for filing consideration.

Original News Release 1/30/22

On Jan. 29, 2022, at approximately 2:05 p.m., officers were dispatched to a report of a shooting in the 1400 block of Long Beach Boulevard, which resulted in the death of a male adult. 

Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim inside a vacant building suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body.  Officers immediately began performing life-saving measures until Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and determined the victim deceased. 

The victim has been identified as Eduardo Alonso, a 30-year-old person experiencing homelessness. Homicide detectives were notified and responded to the scene.  

The preliminary investigation suggests the suspect(s) was involved in an altercation with the victim inside a building that appeared to have been converted into an encampment by persons experiencing homelessness. The suspect(s) shot the victim and was last seen southbound in the alley rear of the encampment. The motive is not known and the incident is currently being investigated as gang-related.
