On July 29, 2022 at approximately 12:28 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of Gundry Avenue to assist the Long Beach Fire Department regarding an injured person, which resulted in the death of a male adult.

Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive male adult, later identified as Alberto Martinez, a 33-year-old person experiencing homelessness. LBFD rendered aid, but determined Martinez deceased at the scene. Homicide Detectives were notified of the death and responded to investigate.

On Aug. 3, 2022, the Los Angeles County Coroner ruled Alberto Martinez’s death a homicide. Detectives have been conducting interviews and attempting to locate evidence regarding his death.

The Long Beach Police Department is seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspect responsible for the murder of Alberto Martinez.
