On Friday, July 27, 2018 at approximately 9:40 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 1400 Block of Pacific Avenue, regarding a vehicle versus pedestrian injury traffic collision, that resulted in the death of a male adult.
Upon arrival, officers located the critically injured pedestrian laying in the street. The Long Beach Fire Department responded and transported the pedestrian to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene.
Due to the suspicious circumstances, the Long Beach Police Department's Homicide Detectives responded to the scene. This incident is being investigated as an intentional act. The motive for the collision is unknown and the investigation remains ongoing.
The identity of the victim is unknown at this time and will be determined by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.
