UPDATE: On June 19, 2018, at approximately 9:20 a.m., Carlos Gustavo Ohm, a 29 year-old male resident of Long Beach was arrested in the 1500 block of Chestnut Avenue in relation to this incident.  Ohm was booked for Murder and is being held on a $2M bail. Ohm is due to be arraigned in the Los Angeles Superior Court on June 21, 2018.

On June 18, 2018, at approximately 2:45 a.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection of 17th Street and Daisy Avenue and in response to a reported shooting.

Officers arrived and located a male adult Hispanic with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. Long Beach Fire Department responded and determined the victim deceased at the scene.

A possible suspect on a bicycle was seen fleeing the area eastbound on 17th Street from Daisy Avenue.

The victim appeared to be 30-35 years-old and was believed to be living inside of a small transient encampment located in the area of Daisy Avenue and 17th Street.

The incident does not appear to be gang-related.  A motive for the shooting is unknown and the investigation remains ongoing.
