On Monday, May 26, 2014, at 12:30 p.m., Long Beach Police responded to the 2800 block of E. 65th Street regarding a shooting call which resulted in the death of a male adult.
Arriving officers discovered two male adult victims who sustained gunshot wounds. One victim sustained injury to the upper torso and the other to a lower extremity.
Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded and transported both victims to a local hospital. Victim Enrique Lopez, 31 years old of Long Beach, sustained injury to the upper torso and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The other victim remains hospitalized in stable condition.
The preliminary investigation indicated the victims were outside of a residence when the suspect vehicle approached them and a passenger fired multiple rounds in the direction of the victims. A motive for the shooting is unknown and the investigation remains ongoing.
The incident is being investigated as possibly gang related and no additional suspect information is available.
