On Saturday, May 24, 2014, around 10:30 p.m., Long Beach Police responded to the area of 19th Street and Lime Avenue regarding a shooting call, which resulted in the death of a male adult.
The preliminary investigation indicated the victim was walking away from a parked vehicle when the suspect(s) fired multiple rounds, striking him in the upper torso. The victim collapsed several feet away and was transported by a private citizen to a local hospital before officers arrived. The victim, identified as 34-year-old Cedrick McClair of Long Beach, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
A motive for the shooting is unknown and the investigation remains ongoing. The incident is being investigated as possibly gang related and no suspect information is available.
