Collision Investigation detectives are seeking the public’s help in solving a hit-and-run traffic collision that occurred on Jan. 25, 2024, which resulted in serious injuries to a male adult bicyclist.

On January 25, at approximately 9:50 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and 4th Street regarding a hit-and-run traffic collision involving a bicyclist.

Upon arrival, officers located a male adult bicyclist who was lying halfway on the sidewalk. Officers provided first aid until Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and transported the man to a local hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

The preliminary investigation indicates the bicyclist had been participating in a group bike ride traveling westbound on 4th Street when a silver Nissan sedan with chrome rims traveling southbound on Atlantic Avenue collided with him. The driver continued driving and fled the scene.

Anyone who may have witnessed this collision is asked to contact LBPD Collision Investigation Detail Detective Joseph Johnson at (562) 570-7355.  Anonymous tips may be submitted through "LA Crime Stoppers" by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), downloading the "P3 TIPS" app to your smartphone (available at the Apple App store and Google Play), or visiting www.LACrimeStoppers.org.
