Detectives have arrested a 16-year-old male suspect and recovered evidence related to a recent shooting in Downtown Long Beach.
On March 16, 2024, at approximately 6:26 pm, officers responded to the area of East 1st Street and The Promenade regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a 16-year-old male victim with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his lower body. Officers rendered aid until Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for his injuries.
In the ensuing weeks, detectives pursued all leads and collected several pieces of evidence. With the use of technology, detectives were able to identify the suspect and obtained an arrest warrant.
On April 16, 2024, detectives arrested the suspect in the city of Los Angeles and obtained additional evidence believed to be related to the shooting.
The suspect has been identified as a 16-year-old resident of Los Angeles.
The firearm had been previously recovered by the Los Angeles Police Department.
