On July 31, 2019, at approximately 8:00 a.m., officers responded to a local hospital regarding reports of a shooting victim with a non-life threating gunshot wound to the upper torso.
Through their preliminary investigation, officers learned the victim was driving in the area of Atlantic Ave. and Artesia Blvd. at approximately 1:30 a.m. when a suspect shot at his vehicle, striking him. The victim then self-transported to a local hospital.
Officers continued their investigation and located evidence consistent with bullet impact on the victim’s vehicle. Gang Detail Detectives responded to the reported area of Atlantic Ave. and Artesia Blvd. where the incident is believed to have occurred but did not locate evidence of a shooting.
Based on their preliminary investigation, detectives believe the suspect(s) involved in this incident was driving a dark-colored vehicle. A description of the suspect(s) and the motive for this shooting is currently unknown.
