Homicide detectives are investigating the death of a female and male adult that occurred on Oct. 4, 2023, in the 5600 block of Corso Di Napoli.

At approximately 6:33 a.m., officers were requested and responded to check the welfare of an elderly couple who were not answering their phone or the front door of their residence. Upon arrival, officers made entry into the elderly couples’ home and located the elderly female adult with an apparent gunshot wound to the upper body and the elderly male adult with apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the upper body.

Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived and determined both subjects deceased at the scene.

The individuals are not being identified at this time, pending notification of next of kin, but are believed to be husband and wife. A firearm was recovered at the scene, and the incident is being investigated as a murder-suicide.

The County of Los Angeles Medical Examiner arrived on scene and will conduct an independent investigation.
