On March 17, 2016, 26 year-old Long Beach resident Jeremiah Shadale Edwards was arraigned for an armed commercial robbery in the City of Long Beach.
On February 27, 2016, a suspect entered a business in the 900 block of Long Beach Blvd., brandished a knife and demanded money from the cashier. The suspect fled the location with an undisclosed amount of currency. Fortunately the clerk was not injured.
Detectives conducted their investigation and were able to identify Edwards as the primary suspect. They learned he frequents the downtown area of Long Beach and notified officers assigned to the bike unit.
On March 15, 2016, bike officers saw the suspect, in the 400 block of Pacific Avenue and arrested him without incident.
On March 16, 2016, the case was presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration. Defendant Edwards was charged with one count of commercial robbery, with enhancements of using a knife to commit the crime and for the crime being a violent felony. Defendant Edwards bail is $170,000 and he is being held at the Los Angeles County Men’s Jail.
