On Sunday, June 26, 2016, at approximately 12:46 a.m., Long Beach Police were dispatched to the area of Anaheim Street and Ohio Avenue regarding an injury traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian, which resulted in the death of a female adult.
The preliminary investigation revealed a white or beige Ford Expedition, traveling west on Anaheim Street, collided with a female pedestrian who was crossing Anaheim Street, south from the northeast curb of Ohio Avenue, in an unmarked crosswalk. After the collision, the vehicle reversed and made a right turn onto northbound Ohio Avenue, colliding with the pedestrian a second time before leaving the scene. The pedestrian was later struck by a second vehicle, a 2006 Cadillac being driven by a 49-year-old, male resident of Compton, who remained at the scene.
Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded and determined the pedestrian deceased at the scene.
The Los Angeles County Coroner will determine positive identification and notify next of kin.
