On Friday, January 22, 2015, at approximately 3:55 A.M., officers responded to an injury traffic accident at the intersection of 7th Street and Pepper Tree Lane.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a 1994 Mercedes Benz had collided with the signal light pole on the south east corner of the intersection. Long Beach Paramedics responded and determined the driver deceased at the scene.

The Investigation revealed that the Mercedes Benz was traveling eastbound on 7th Street when witnesses observed the vehicle stopped in middle of the intersection at 7th Street and PCH for no apparent reason. Moments later, witnesses observed the vehicle continue eastbound on 7th street, traveling at approximately 25 M.P.H., when the vehicle veered into the signal light pole at 7th Street and Pepper Tree Lane. It is possible that the driver may have suffered a medical condition prior to the accident.

The Los Angeles County Coroner will determine positive identification and notify next of kin.
