The Long Beach Police Department, in partnership with the Long Beach Human Trafficking Task Force, will host the annual “Youth Empowerment Safety Symposium (Y.E.S.S.)” event at the Salvation Army. Approximately 300 youth and adults will attend to engage in human trafficking awareness through arts, workshops, and dialogue.
This is a free event and attendees will learn about social influences, and ways to take action, they will connect with community resources, shop with fair trade vendors, enjoy food, music, prizes, and more.
Gary Miller, record producer, musician, and founder of Rock Against Trafficking, will speak and interact with youth and adults during the event. Miller established Rock Against Trafficking to raise awareness and funding through the power of music.
The Long Beach Police Department is a member of the Long Beach Human Trafficking Task Force, which is a multidisciplinary community-based collaboration of stakeholders who partner to combat human trafficking through prevention, protection, and prosecution.
