A suspect has been arrested in connection with recent commercial burglaries.

On Feb. 6, 2024 at approximately 4:45 a.m., while patrolling the area of 2nd Street, officers noticed an open door on a business. The officer stopped to further investigate and observed damage to the door. The officer walked further along the block and found a total of six businesses with forced entry.

During each of the burglary incidents, a suspect broke into the business through a door and stole miscellaneous items. Detectives immediately began investigating the series of burglaries, and through security footage, were able to identify the suspect responsible for the incidents.

Detectives believe the suspect is responsible for incidents at the following locations:

• 4705 E 2nd Street
• 4713 E 2nd Street
• 4801 E 2nd Street
• 4818 E 2nd Street
• 5211 E 2nd Street
• 5305 E 2nd Street #103

Following these incidents, we increased our patrols in the Belmont Shore area. The East Division commander, officers, and the Neighborhood Safety Bike Team walked in the area to engage with businesses and provide safety tips.

On Feb. 7, 2024, detectives located and arrested the suspect in the 2500 block of South Leland Street, in the city of San Pedro. He was identified as Kevin Scott Plunkett, a 35-year-old resident of San Pedro, who was booked for six counts of burglary. His bail is pending magistrate review.
