As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.

Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:

  • Stabbing- 6300 block of Cherry Avenue- On September 13, 2025, at approximately 4:49 p.m., officers responded to the 6300 block of Cherry Avenue regarding a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim and male adult suspect with non-life-threatening stab wound to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded and transported the suspect to a local hospital in stable condition. The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim and the suspect were in an altercation when the suspect stabbed the victim. The suspect was identified as Daniel Eleazer Holgun, a 43-year-old resident of Long Beach, who was booked for battery and exhibiting a deadly weapon other than a firearm. Bail was set at $10,000. The investigation is ongoing.

  • Stabbing- 5600 block of Linden Avenue- On September 13, 2025, at approximately 11:40 a.m., officers responded to a local hospital regarding a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim that self-transported to the hospital with a non-life-threatening stab wound to the upper body.  The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was walking in the area of 5600 block of Linden Avenue when he was approached by two suspects that led to a brief altercation when one of the suspects stabbed the victim. Officers did not locate evidence indicating a stabbing had occurred. The suspect fled the scene prior to officer’s arrival. Suspect information and motive are under investigation.
