As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.

Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:

• Stabbing - 4500 Block of California Avenue: On May 28, 2026, at approximately 10:36 p.m., officers responded to a stabbing on the 4500 block of California Avenue.  Officers located a female adult victim with stab wounds to her upper and lower body.  LBFD paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital, where she is in stable condition.  The preliminary investigation indicates the victim was walking in the area, when a male adult suspect approached her and stabbed her before fleeing the area.  The motive and suspect information remain under investigation.
  
  
• No-Hit Shooting - 2300 Block of East Market Street: On May 29, 2026, at approximately 2:33 a.m., officers responded to a shooting on the 2300 block of East Market Street.  Officers contacted the male adult victim and learned he had been in a physical altercation with the male adult suspect.  During the altercation, the suspect produced a firearm and shot once before fleeing the scene.  The victim was not struck, and no other injuries were reported.  The investigation is ongoing.
  
  
• Stabbing - 3200 block of East Anaheim Street: On May 29, 2026, at approximately 3:09 a.m., officers responded to a stabbing on the 3200 block of East Anaheim Street.  Officers located a male adult victim who stated that a male adult suspect stabbed him before fleeing the area.  LBFD paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital where he was treated for a non-life-threatening stab wound to the upper body.  The motive, circumstances, and suspect information are under investigation.
